Goodbye Simon Jones…
Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of Simon Jones, one of Metro TV’s English editors. As a colleague, Simon was well known to be extremely helpful. As a friend, he was always very funny and a nice person to talk to.
May you rest in peace, Simon Jones. You’ll be greatly missed.

I didn’t know that you knew him, Ndri..
Yes, he was a nice guy. Do you happen to know his relatives?
I also wrote about it in my blog http://mryasha.multiply.com/journal/item/90/That_Simon_Bule_Guy
Hi Yash!
I knew the story from Nancy.
She said Simon will be cremated, then his ashes will be sent to his family.
That’s the last news I heard..
simon was my author in prasetiya mulya business school. i was shocked with this news..
would you send me any news about him???
thx,
ichil
Thank you for your condolences.
Simon was one of my cousins. I was stunned to hear from my mother that he had died.
Most of his immediate relatives live in Europe and North America. Simon was born in Wales - hence that occaisional English accent that Mr Yasha referred to in his blog. Simon moved around the world, spending a lot of his life in Europe and North America before moving to Asia. A free spirit, he was at times difficult for his family to keep in touch with, information being given on his whereabouts given when he felt like it. This used to worry his parents greatly, but I guess that was the way he wanted it .
He will be sadly missed by his parents, brothers and sisters and all his uncles, aunts and cousins.
I don’t usually submit to blogs and chat rooms, but since Simon died so far away from us it is heartwarming to hear that he had friends and colleagues who regret his passing.
By the way, what is a Bule Guy?
Hi Alun,
Thanks a lot for the info. Yes indeed, Simon will be greatly missed by all of his friends here. I hope your posting could also answered the queries from Ichil.
Please accept our deepest condolence from big family of Maverick.
Anyway, Bule Guy is an Indonesian slang word that commonly used word to describe a white person or person of European/American descent.
I am Simons sister Vivienne in Toronto. When we recieved the terrible news we knew very little of his life in Jakarta. We did know that he loved it there and loved his job.We we worried about him often and craved more contact, but Si had long been a free and restless spirit. He was a complex person with many talents, bright and curious with a wonderful sense of humour, intelligence and stamina, and he was loved by his family. There has been some comfort in getting a glimpse of his life and the people he worked with and I feel there is much sincerity in the condolences as well as the help we have recieved from his associates at Metro Tv. Thank you for that.
warm greetings vivienne
I am Chris, Simon’s older brother.
I would like to also say thank you to those of you who have offered your condolences, Like Viv and Alun I find it heart warming to hear the kind thoughts and words from the people who knew Simon. A special thanks to those at Metro TV who have helped us so much to sort out this sad buisness with such a distance between us. I had so wanted to go to jakarta and see what he was doing and see more of his life.
Rest in peace ‘little brother’………….
Chris
