National Condom Week Closing

National Condom Week was between December 1 and 8 and was marked by activities throughout Indonesia from Jakarta and Tangerang to Bandung, Pasuruan, Pekanbaru, Badung (Bali), East Sumbawa, Manado and Jayapura.

Local communities, government officials and a number of NGOs working in HIV/AIDS took part in these events under the national Condom Week banner. These activities include distributing 7,000 HIV/AIDS educational material and condoms, artistes taking part in the MTV Staying Alive concert and participation in the condom tester competition as well as writing and photography competitions for journalists, photographers and bloggers.

Last Saturday we held the National Condom Week’s closing event at Hard Rock Café Jakarta which recalled the week’s events and an announcement of the winners of the writing and photography competitions. With Kompas’ senior health journalist Irwan Julianto, DKT country director Christopher Purdy and AIDS Prevention Commission member Nafsiah Mboi as the judges the following were declared competition winners:
