Click of The Week #31: Kelik M. Nugroho

Lately I’ve realized that I cherish personal blogs.

Personal blogs tell stories about you, not as a professional, a journalist, an expert or an artist, but of yourself as an individual. An individual human being with hobbies, interests, sadness and anxieties of your own.

To me, personal blogs are far more fascinating than professional ones, because personal blogs enable you to see a person from a different perspective. And it also acts as a reminder that no matter what we do for a living, deep inside we’re all just ordinary people, trying to get by.

That’s the reason why I chose Piringan Hitam–a blog written by Tempo journalist Kelik M. Nugroho, as our 1st Click of The Week in 2008.

Apart from being a journalist, Kelik is also a song writer and composer. Piringan Hitam reveals his music-related hobby in collecting LP (Long-Playing) records and old cassettes. One of his precious collections include Indonesia Raya’s LP records, released by RRI Recording Department, Lokananta, in 1978!

Thanks to his passion in blogging, Kelik was once invited to Good Morning variety show in TransTV, to share interesting stories about his vintage records collections.

Though there are LP collectors out there with wider range of collections, Kelik got invited because he has a blog. Precisely—a blog. When the TransTV crew visited his blog, they found his phone number, and they contacted him right away. Speak about the power of blogging! :)

If you’re into music or vintage records, I think you should pay his blog a visit and take a look at his collections. Probably you can even meet Kelik in Bang Oman’s kiosk in Taman Puring Market in Mayestik, South Jakarta, that has become one of Kelik’s favorite hunting place for old records and cassettes.

Terima kasih kembali mbak Hanny.
