Game Keepers Turned Poachers

Is CAKRAM having a tough start in 2008?

We have just heard the news that CAKRAM magazine has just laid-off five of its employees last Friday (01/25), including two of its editors.

Surprisingly, the management did not inform these employees about the layoff beforehand—and only told them about the decision on Friday without prior notice.

A source told us in Maverick that this decision was thrown at them in a sudden, leaving them with no plan B whatsoever.

Apart from the two editors, there are also one reporter, one circulation staff and one artistic staff, who got sacked.

CAKRAM magazine first appeared in Indonesia in March 1990 as a sub division of Matari Advertising, and ever since it has been delivering information and analysis on the advertising, promotional, and PR industry.

We tried to contact Gunawan Alif from CAKRAM for comment, but we were unable to reach him.

Can anyone out there confirm that the news is true, and share more info on this?
