Click of The Week #34: A Word from Okky

cow Nice “Batik” design and neat layout are my first impressions about “A Word from Okky”. Okky Puspa Madasari, a female journalist and the owner of the blog. She uses it as a medium to express her opinion on the many things that happen in her life.

Her interests are basically things that are familiar for us – about poverty, peace, nature, culture, and human being. However, the way she frames her views gives the reader a different approach to the subject.

In a posting titled “Work Hard, Traveling Smart” she writes about her backpacking experience in Singapore, where she met several people that started her reflecting on the meaning of faith, sincerity and the concept of “paying it forward” with good deeds.

Her posting on “Diva Munir”, daughter of well-known human rights activist Munir, tells about her meeting with Diva while waiting for her mom, Suciwati who was meeting UN representatives that day. Okky describes how cute and cheerful Diva was, despite of how difficult it must have been for her and her mom to fight for human rights and justice for her father.

Okky Puspa Madasari, a female journalist of Jurnal Nasional and has been in the industry for two years. Recently, she was nominated as one of the nominees for the Anugerah Adiwarta Sampoerna 2007 Awards in the hard news category.

What shines through in Okky’s writing is her passion and curiousity about the human condition.
