Game Keepers Turned Poachers
From Fashion and Lifestyle to Economy and Politics
In Maverick, we believe that life is about reinventing yourself. So when a friend decided to reinvent herself, it is only natural for us to celebrate that.
Jessica Huwae has been in the media for eight years.
She started a stint in Cita Cinta Magazine (Femina Group) in 2000 as a reporter. In 2004, she moved to Spice! Magazine under the MRA Group, first as senior editor and in 2006 move up the ladder as Chief Editor.
After almost eight years dealing with fashion, relationships, arts and cultures, and college issues, writing with campus girls as her audience, Jessica decided to reinvent herself.
We discovered this after reading some of her blog posts at jessiession.multiply.com (Maverick is a big fan of her blog) where she describes the ‘culture shock’ she experienced there.
Starting January 2008, she moved to Media Indonesia Group to handle the group’s Citigold magazine (partnering with Citibank, one of Maverick’s clients).
Together with the team in Media Indonesia, she is also preparing Media Perempuan and Media Sehat online that will be launched soon. She is also assigned to manage other creative projects by the Media Indonesia group.
We met her last week for a coffee. With Jessica, every moment is filled with laughter. She told us that since she no longer could put on high heels and fashionable dresses, she tried to don her blue-black uniform with accessories, successfully inviting strange comments from her male co-workers. Her daily digests are changing too, from fashion and lifestyle to economy and politics.
Maverick wishes her the best of luck. We’re waiting for that next coffee session, Jess!
