Maverick of The Year 2007

Maverick started this tradition last year during our Away Day. Each year we’d ask associates to nominate their peers for the Maverick of the Year award, which carries with it a modest plaque and Rp10 million prize money.

This year, at our Away Day in Ancol over the weekend, we announced the Maverick of the Year 2007, and it was Indri Puspitasari Rosid. The Maverick of the Year is chosen for demonstrating to the partners and their peers that they have pushed themselves to a new level of performance.

This was a difficult choice as we have some very sharp staffers here who are very good. Nevertheless, there was little doubt that Indri pushed her performance to make the furthest leap. Indri joined Maverick in November 2006, just in time for our big project of the ‘one year commemoration of tsunami’. And so, together with some of the best people in Maverick, she was posted in Aceh for a month.

Like many newcomers in Maverick, she had some difficulty coping with the culture here, which swung between dead seriousness during work and madcap fun when we’re relaxing. We had our doubts as to whether she could fit in, but as with everyone we took on, we encouraged and cheered her on even as we pushed her hard to give her best, and then some.

Happily, she not only proved our initial misgivings wrong but also went on to become one of the strongest performers in Maverick. We saw great changes in her and and took on even greater challenges we threw at her with great aplomb. By 2007 she was leading the account team for Maverick’s largest client and bloomed into a first rate professional with a strong sense of integrity and, yes, fun and humor too.

Now, hopefully, she’ll be able to inspire others to become Mavericks of the Year too.
