PT. Triowarna Gempita launched SportWeek Indonesia in Hotel Mulia Senayan last Thursday (29/04). It positioned itself apart from other sports magazine by covering news on athletes outside their comfort zone, the field. SportWeek will share stories about the daily lives of famous athletes and public figures in sports industry.

Maria Dominique, SportWeek contributor said, “When you watch a soccer game, you know the player’s name. But aren’t you curious about their personal lives? Take Marco Materazzi, Inter’s defender, for example. He is famous for being a womanizer, but it turns out he can be a loving father. Just take a look at SportWeek Indonesia first edition where Marco is holding his baby on the cover.”

This 66-page bi-weekly magazine will have a circulation of 30,000 copies and is available mainly in Jabodetabek areas, Surabaya and Bandung. SportWeek appears to target male readers between the age of 17 and 40 and costs Rp15,000.

SportsWeek Indonesia is a franchise from La Gazetta dello Sport, a famous Italian media house. SportWeek is PT. Triowarna Gempita’s third product in Indonesia after Top Skor and Clara.

Heading SportWeek is Ronny Pangemanan, a former soccer player who is famous for his sharp comments on soccer matches on TV. He said SportWeek will dedicate 30% of its content to cover Indonesian athletes. Hmm, I wonder, whether SportWeek will tell stories about Chris Jon anytime soon.
