Maverick Goes 70s at “Maverick Night Fever”

Everybody loves to party, journalists no exceptions! That was obvious from our 2008 media gathering last Thursday. Some 70 journalists from around 35 media companies joined the party at Airman Planet, Sultan Hotel. Dubbed the “Maverick Night Fever”, the event took the theme “disco seventies”. Everybody–our partners and associates–made serious efforts to live up to the theme, donning their wigs, miniskirts, leather boots and flowery shirts, to mention a few of the 70s items on display that night!   It’s always nice to see people enjoy themselves and unwind (at least for a while!) after a tight deadline, stress, or anything that is associated with working as journalists. Visiting with and getting to know fresh faces in a different environment other than work can be a very useful stress relief. A health therapist once said that it’s healthy to make at least a new friend in a month. Nothing can beat a party when it comes to that! Make new friends!  Be part of the fun!  A party is no fun when the very people attending it play no part in it. To get everybody to join, every journalist was invited to take their pictures in the 70s outfit: big sunglasses, flowery shirts, wigs and other 70s paraphernalia. Everybody seemed to be having a great time and many of them grabbed a second chance to don different costumes and pose for different photo angles. On top of an abundance of food and free drinks, there were fun games to entertain guests. The MC duo, Indri and Nadia, who looked glamorous in their 70s gold and silver looks, from head to toe, challenged guests in a guessing game to identify 70s songs and to dance in the 70s style. Joko of rileks.com and his partner of the night, Dewi, a Maverick associate, turned the dance floor hot with their sensual movements. In a matter of minutes the two choreographed a new dance that combined disco with 70s movements. Other dancers helped make the night a “Maverick Night Fever”!   The lucky journalist that night was Muchlison of Gatra, who won the grand prize: an iPOD! Everybody looked happy and that was all that mattered. We were grateful for the media support in the six years of doing business. Spending a happy time together was one way to keep our good relationship with the journalists!

Happy New Year 2008!

plain.jpg

New Year is a harmless annual event.
Of no particular use to anybody save as a scapegoat for promiscuous drunks,
and friendly calls and humbug resolutions.
(Mark Twain)

Nonetheless, Maverick wishes you Happy New Year 2008!

Ps: Send us your New Year’s resolutions (if you have any) to maverick@maverick.co.id. We’ll keep them for you and we’ll send them back by the end of 2008 just for you to look back before you get drunk in welcoming another year to come.
